The Job Creation Government Regulation No. 36 of 2021 (PP 36/2021) formula determined a Minimum Wage (MW) increase of 1.09% for 2022, an increase that is being heavily contested by the labour movement. Provincial level wages were issued on the 21st of November 2021 in alignment with the formula. On 30th of November, the Governors of Jakarta, Banten, West Java, Central Java and Yogyakarta (i.e., the provinces covered by the BWI programme) issued MW decrees establishing district and city wages, as per the applicable regulation.
