- Fostering youth transitions to decent work: paper prepared under South Africa’s G20 Presidency Ensuring a smooth and successful transition of young people into decent work remains a critical priority for G20 economies. Despite declining youth unemployment rates in most countries, persistent challenges continue to undermine young people’s economic participation. With continued economic uncertainty on the horizon, fostering youth employment is not only a social imperative but also an economic necessity. To sustain momentum and monitor progress, a renewed youth employment goal beyond 2025 is essential, replacing the Antalya goal adopted in 2015. This updated framework will serve as a catalyst for action in the decade ahead, ensuring young people have the opportunities they need to thrive in an evolving world of work.
