Trade unions as “Actors for Change”: monitoring, implementing, and shaping the post-2025 human-centred development agenda Mohammed Mwamadzingo (Author) The forthcoming Second World Summit for Social Development (WSSD) scheduled to take placed in Doha, Qatar, in November 2025 represents a critical juncture for redefining global development priorities, with a focus on inclusivity and human-centred growth. This article examines the transformative potential of trade unions as key drivers of social and political change in this new era. By analysing the organisational, institutional and collaborative capacities required for unions to thrive, the article highlights strategies for inclusivity, governance modernisation, solidarity-building and workforce upskilling. Furthermore, it explores the role of trade unions in shaping policy through multilateral partnerships and social dialogue. The article concludes with the presentation of actionable recommendations for trade unions, governments, and international institutions to advance a post-2025 agenda grounded in equity and sustainability. publication.journalArticle
