- Is platform work migrant work?: the economic and social conditions behind migrant (over-)representation in the platform economy across Europe Agnieszka Piasna (Author) Wouter Zwysen (Author) Despite wide research on migrants and the platform economy, few systematic comparisons exist between migrant and non-migrant workers, diverse groups of migrants and across different types of platform work. Representative survey data from 14 European countries show that, on average, migrants are about 20% more likely to undertake platform work. Almost half of this is, however, explained by socio-demographic profile. Ultimately, migrant workers who are more likely to engage in platform work are those who are more vulnerable based on their group-level characteristics and at greater risk of disadvantage in the traditional labour market. 10.16995/ilr.23806 DOI https://doi.org/10.16995/ilr.23806 publication.journalArticle
