- Translating global principles into local practices: enterprise case studies on responsible business conduct in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic International Labour Organization This booklet summarizes case studies on responsible business conduct (RBC) among enterprises based in Lao People’s Democratic Republic. The five case studies across the garment, beverage, handicraft and mining subsectors illustrate how the guidance of the ILO Tripartite Declaration of Principles Concerning Multinational Enterprises and Social Policy (MNE Declaration) can be translated into practical workplace action. The cases highlight enterprise experiences in skills development, occupational safety and health, employment policies, job creation and social dialogue — demonstrating that responsible business conduct is not merely aspirational but can generate tangible benefits for both enterprises and workers.
