contents Elemental concentrations were determined on 21 samples from Hole 1215A to evaluate the influence of hydrothermal sources on bulk sediment composition. Rare earth element (REE) concentrations were also determined on 10 of these samples. Concentration profiles and REE patterns are consistent with a strong hydrothermal influence on sediment composition at the base of Hole 1215A.
