contents Dissolved organic matter (DOM) from peat samples of different origin, degradation and peat forming environment (file 'samples.txt') were extracted with fresh- and salt water. Besides the basic parameters pH and C- and N- content (file 'C_N_pH.txt), pyrolysis field ionization mass spectrometry (Py-FIMS) was used to examine differences between fresh- and saltwater extracts. Mass- and temperature information was used to assign the Py-FIMS signals to compound classes. Intensity and relative abundance of the compound classes are displayed in the files 'compound classes_counts_per_mg.txt' and 'compound classes_percentTII.txt', respectively. The files 'xxx_thermograms.txt' contain the thermograms of the single compound classes.
