contents The data for the combinatorial decomposable flash drought identification framework (CDFDI) research is used to describe the regular droughts and flash droughts characteristics in the Loess Plateau (LP) (33°43′-41°16′N, 104°54′-114°33′E), such as duration, severity, and area on an annual basis, respectively. The soil moisture percentile indicator is also provided here. The data is generated from the CDFDI framework using a reanalysis soil moisture dataset, the Global Land Data Assimilation System (GLDAS) version 2.0, over the January 1948 - December 2014. The data with a spatial resolution and temporal resolution of 0.25°x0.25° and pentad is presented in the comma searated value fromat (.csv) and nc4 (netcdf4). In general, this data could provide some useful information for water management in the LP to prevent extreme flash drought disasters.
