contents 9 manganese crusts retrieved from the Manihiki Plateau area by R/V Tui have been analysed by instrumental neutron activation analysis in order to characterize their geochemical nature. Most of the Mn crusts are of hydrogenous origin. Delta-MnO2 is the principal Mn mineral in the crusts.
