contents 48 pollen samples from Lake Khamra were prepared using the established protocol with added Lycopodium marker spore tablets. To store samples and prepare microscopic slides, water-free glycerol was used. The palynomorphs were counted and identified using a light microscope AxioZeiss (400x magnifications). Besides pollen a variety of non-pollen palynomorphs, such as spores, fungi, algal and invertebrate remains, were also identified and counted when feasible. This study was additionally supported by a short-term grant (not numbered) from AWI Graduate School (POLMAR), and PhD Completion Scholarship (not numbered) provided by University of Potsdam.
