contents The Jøtul hydrothermal field is the first hydrothermal vent field discovered at the ultra-slow-spreading Knipovich Ridge, Arctic Mid-Ocean Ridge. In the course of its discovery during expedition MSM109 in July 2022, hydrothermal fluids were sampled at four sites with the KIPS fluid sampling system (Kiel Pumping System, KIPS-4) operated with the Remotely-Operated Vehicle (ROV) MARUM-QUEST 4000m. Upon recovery of the ROV, the samples were separated into subsamples for the analyses of major and trace metals, as well as dissolved hydrocarbons and CO₂, Sr isotopes, and nutrients in the home labs. Major metals were measured with a Varian Vista Pro simultaneous radial ICP-OES, whereas trace metals were analyzed with a Thermo Scientific Finnigan Element2 HR-ICP-MS. CH₄ and ΣCO₂ were quantified using an Agilent 7820 A Gas Chromatograph, whereas C1 to C6 hydrocarbon compositions were analyzed with an Agilent 7890B Gas Chromatograph. Stable C and H isotopes of methane were determined by use of a MAT 253 isotope ratio mass spectrometer (Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc.). Measurements of Sr stable isotope ratios (87Sr/86Sr) were carried out with a TRITON Plus thermal ionization mass spectrometer (ThermoScientific). Ammonium (NH₄⁺) and total alkalinity (TA) were measured with a TECAN infinite M2100Pro microplate spectrophotometer (TECAN Trading AG, Switzerland) at the Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research at Bremen.
