contents Seven multicores and two grabs were collected in the Rockall Trough (NE Atlantic Ocean) during MSM107 cruise from 18.05.2022 to 03.06.2022. The sediment cores were sliced at a resolution of 1 cm for sampling. 124 samples from multicores (the 31-32 cm section of GeoB 24814-06 was missing) and 2 plastic bags of grabbed mixed sediments were retrieved in total. The grain size analyses were performed at University of Bremen, on 126 bulk sediments and 9 terrigenous fractions from selected surface sediments using a Beckman Coulter LS 13320 Laser particle sizer. A combined laser diffraction and 2 mm sieves were used due to the grain size variations on the sediments. In order to isolate the terrigenous particles from 9 surface sediments, organic materials, calcium carbonates and the biogenic silicas were removed by adding hydrogen peroxide, hydrochloric and sodium hydroxide, respectively. To obtain the Total Organic Carbon (TOC) content of collected 126 samples, ~100 mg of freeze-dried and powdered sediment samples was fully ground and then acidified with 12.5% HCl to remove calcium carbonate. Programmed pyrolysis for pre-treated TOC samples were also performed at University of Bremen using a LECO CS 744 carbon analyzer.
