Table of Contents:
- This dataset contains undrained shear strength profiles of soft seabed sediment layers that were measured in-situ with a free fall cone penetrometer (FF-CPT) in sea areas off Espoo and Pori (2023) in Finland. The FF-CPT used was a dotOcean Graviprobe 2.0 (length 1.97 m, weight 20.2 kg, diameter 5 cm, 60° cone with diameter of 5 cm and length 2,1 cm) and it was deployed from the r/v Geomari of the Geological Survey of Finland (GTK). The instrument has an accelerometer, inclinometer, and pressure sensor, which produce data for a dynamic model, from which the undrained shear strength is derived at 1 cm depth intervals using the accelerometer method (Bezuijen et al., 2018; doi:10.1201/9780429438660-37). Static shear strength is derived from dynamic shear strength using static beta as indicated in the data column. Vertical penetration in the fine-grained seabed sediments was typically 2-3 m. Typically, 3-4 drops were performed at each test site.
