contents The CTD data on cruise M180 contain oceaninc measurements of temperature, salinity, and pressure at 67 stations. The data were collected with the research vessel Meteor. Region: South Atlantic, 45°W-9°E, 32°S-38°S; Ports: Montevideo - Cape Town; Date: February 23 - April 13, 2022. The data where collected by a CTD device of type SBE 9. Due to technical problems, two different CTDs were operated on this cruise: The ship's CTD and the CTD system from the university of Bremen. In all cases, the sampling frequency was 24 Hz, and the raw data were then interpolated on 1 dbar intervals. Due to a failure of the salinometer, no salinity samples could be analysed for the calibration of the conductivity sensors. A comparison between the CTD systems and a previous cruise in the same area (MSM60) revealed good agreement for the ship's conductivity sensors and a correction of +0.005 ms/cm in conductivity for the sensor from the university of Bremen. With this correction, all CTD salinity data agree close to the bottom, i.e. in the Antarctic Bottom Water, within 0.001 psu. The accuracy of the calibrated CTD measurements is: 1 dbar for pressure, 0.002 °C for temperature, 0.003 psu for salinity.
