Zhang, Yingying Qin, Yongqiang Yang, Chi Gai, Tong Zhao, Qun Xie, Jia Seasons Anti-Bacterial Agents China Water Pollutants, Chemical Environmental Monitoring Aquaculture Tropical Climate Rain With the global expansion of marine aquaculture, the application of antibiotics in fish farming has become increasingly widespread. As a important aquaculture province in China, research on antibiotic residues in western Hainan remains limited, especially concerning seasonal variations between the dry and rainy seasons periods. This research examined the distribution characteristics, sources, and ecological risks of antibiotics in water bodies during the dry and rainy seasons in five main fishery aquaculture areas: Lingao, Danzhou, Changjiang, Dongfang, and Ledong in western Hainan. The results showed that tetracyclines were not detected in all samples from both dry and rainy seasons. 10 antibiotic types were detected in all sites during the dry season, while 9 types were identified during the rainy season. Additionally, TMP, SMX, SIM, SM, FLO, CIP, and ENR were detected across both dry and rainy seasons. During the dry season, antibiotics concentrations ranged between 1156 and 110,188.64 ngL, whereas in the rainy season, they between 0 and 47,577.77 ngL. In the sampling areas, antibiotics primarily found in aquaculture effluents and municipal wastewater discharges. Correlation analysis with environmental factors revealed significant influences of factors such as temperature, dissolved oxygen, and chemical oxygen demand on antibiotics levels during the two seasons. Furthermore, TMP, SMX, FLO, CIP, ENR, and OFL were identified as posing considerable threats to aquatic organisms. These findings offer a scientific foundation for promoting sustainable development of Hainan's aquatic ecological systems.
