Pan, Shijun Yang, Yejuan Liu, Lirui Du, Huan Liu, Yang Phylogeny RNA, Ribosomal, 16S Geologic Sediments Fatty Acids Base Composition Bacterial Typing Techniques DNA, Bacterial China Sequence Analysis, DNA Molecular Sequence Data Phospholipids Ubiquinone Wetlands Two Gram-stain-negative, facultatively anaerobic, light-yellow, rod-shaped bacterial strains, designated as FT23028 and FT23042, were isolated from mangrove sediment collected in Shenzhen, PR China. Their taxonomic positions were established using a polyphasic approach including phylogenetic, physiological, biochemical and chemotaxonomic analyses. Both strains grew optimally at 25-30 °C and pH 7.0 without NaCl. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strains FT23028 and FT23042 were most closely related to KCTC 12380 (98.31 and 98.23%), KCTC 12871 (98.10 and 98.03%) and CGMCC 1.10683 (97.68 and 97.61%), respectively. These two strains shared 99.93% 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity with each other. The predominant fatty acids (>10%) identified in strains FT23028 and FT23042 were C 7c (and/or C 6c, 48.7 and 53.2%, respectively) and C (29.9 and 26.4%, respectively). The polar lipid profiles included two unknown phosphoglycolipids, five glycolipids and three unidentified lipids. The respiratory quinone was Q-10. The total sequence lengths of strains FT23028 and FT23042 were 3,122,877 and 3,235,296 bp, with DNA G+C contents of 65.3 and 67.4 mol%, respectively. Based on phenotypic, chemotaxonomic and phylogenetic distinction, a novel species of the genus is proposed, for which the name sp. nov. is suggested. The type strain is FT23028 (=MCCC 1K09458=KCTC 8783).
