By applying a questionnaire with more than 390 questionsand by using the words and things method, the fishermens vocabularies from eleven Sonora towns, deep - sea ports and camps, are thoroughly explored andcomp a red to each other in order to find the real extent and vitality of each of the sea words. Likewise, and with the same objectives, the list obtained is comparedto other places in Mexico, America and Spain. The Sonoras patrimonial vocabulary can be glimpsed in the light of the contrasts between this vocabulary and the other forms used by fishermen around the immense Hispanic world.
