In the State of Mexico, during the drought season (December 1997-June 1998), there were 3,610 recorded fires, the largest quantity recorded during the current decade in the State. Fire affected 2,584 hectares. The most affected zones are Coatepec Harinas and Atlacomulco. The municipality where it was recorded the largest number of forest fires was Valle de Bravo (321). The frequency of forest fires exposes the necessity of research to evaluate fire effects on the communities and to make possible the handling of fire for the benefit of the natural sources. 1999 artículo científico 1405-0269 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=10401611 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=104 CIENCIA ergo-sum, Revista Científica Multidisciplinaria de Prospectiva application/pdf Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México CIENCIA ergo-sum, Revista Científica Multidisciplinaria de Prospectiva (México) Num.3 Vol.6
