This village has experienced a process of modernization by using its public lands for urban oriented tourism. The inhabitants of San Jeronimo have preserved religious practices that gained autonomy through the "cargo" system, which entails incorporating, appropriating and then resignifying elements from different historical times. The concept of "cosmovision" facilitates understanding of this multiplicity of appropriations. "Cosmovision" is a particular way of understanding the world, in which diversity makes sense and the identity of a group is sustained. While examining the general characteristics of the "cargo system", the paper describes two festivities whose symbolic importance is essential to the life of the villagers. 2001 artículo científico 1405-0269 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=10402105 es http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=104 CIENCIA ergo-sum, Revista Científica Multidisciplinaria de Prospectiva application/pdf Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México CIENCIA ergo-sum, Revista Científica Multidisciplinaria de Prospectiva (México) Num.2 Vol.8
