Bernstein Lisa Wang Lizbeth López Salud genes risk factors racial stocks breast neoplasms biological markers Breast cancer is an etiologically heterogeneous disease withmarked geographical variations. Joint consideration of therelationship between specific molecular alterations andknown or suspected epidemiologic risk factors for this diseaseshould help distinguish subgroups of women that areat elevated risk of developing breast cancer. In this article,we present a comprehensive literature review of the etiologicand prognostic roles of Her-2/neu and P53 among women. In addition, we discuss the advantages and limitations ofusing biomarkers in epidemiological studies. We concludethat more research is needed to understand the complexrelationships between genetic alterations and etiologic riskfactors for breast cancer. 1999 artículo científico 0036-3634 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=10609408 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=106 Salud Pública de México application/pdf Instituto Nacional de Salud Pública Salud Pública de México (México) Num.2 Vol.41
