| contents | Financiamiento de programas de farmacodependencia en la ciudad de México: 1990-1994 Irene M. Parada Patricia Hernández Armando Arredondo Francisco Becerra Salud health Mexico Key words: financing substance dependence Objective. To analyze the financial flows in the drug dependencyprograms in México City, their financial source, and the way how funding monies are spent. Material andmethods. A discrete number of institutions devoted to drugdependency control in Mexico City was selected. Analysisof financial flows was carried out using the National HealthAccounts methods. Questionnaires to quantify resourceswere applied to health service managers and users. In additionto collection of financial flow data, we calculated theexpenditures per user for each institution. For the period1990-1993, expenditures were estimated from financial budgetsallocated to each program in 1990, at constant valuesto eliminate the effects of inflation. Results. Financial sourcesidentified were: the federal budget allocation (50-90%),user fees (10-20%), and non-governmental organizationcontributions (15-80%). Conclusions. Even though budgetsin participant institutions have increased in the last four years, they are still inadequate to cover the large demand of services. It is important to identify new ways to increase theavailability of resources as well as to ensure their efficientuse. Continuing financial analysis of these programs will allowthe assessment of changes to guide optimal financialdecision making. 2000 artículo científico 0036-3634 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=10642208 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=106 Salud Pública de México application/pdf Instituto Nacional de Salud Pública Salud Pública de México (México) Num.2 Vol.42 |
