A quasi-experimentalstudy was conducted; diabetic patients were randomly allocatedto an experimental and a control group. The experimentalgroup consisted of 25 patients and the control groupof 24 patients. The educational intervention was organizedthrough a reflection-action process. LDL cholesterol levelswere measured at baseline and monthly during the ninemonths of the study. The groups were controlled for ageand sex. Statistical analysis included Wilcoxon’s test for ordinalvariables. Results. The intervention group had a meanvalue of LDL cholesterol of 148.4 +/-21.3, compared to 185+/-24.1 in the control group (p£0.05). Conclusions.
