Izazola Licea Melbourne F. Hovell Jorge Santibáñez Salud US HIV prevalence risk factors Mexico border To estimate the prevalence of risk factors for HIV infection among Mexican migrants and immigrants(MMIs) in different geographic contexts, including the sending communities in Mexico, the receiving communities inthe United States (US), and the Mexican North border region. Material and Methods. We conducted a probability survey among MMIs traveling through key border crossingsites in the Tijuana (Baja California, Mexico)-San Diego (California, US) border region (N=1 429). Results. The surveyrevealed substantial rates of reported sexually transmitted infections, needle-sharing and sexual risk practices in allmigration contexts. Conclusions. The estimated levels ofHIV risk call for further binational research and preventiveinterventions in all key geographic contexts of the migration experience to identify and tackle the different personal, environmental, and structural determinants of HIV riskin each of these contexts. 2006 artículo científico 0036-3634 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=10648102 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=106 Salud Pública de México application/pdf Instituto Nacional de Salud Pública Salud Pública de México (México) Num.1 Vol.48
