- Mechanisms of HPV Transmission in the Era of HPV Prevention Vaccines Anna R. Giuliano Raphael Viscidi Salud Investigation at two pharmaceutical companies israpidly progressing such that a licensed HPV vaccineis now available. There are compelling datato suggest that male HPV infection and subsequenttransmission of HPV to female sexual partnersstrongly influences HPV infection and cancer inwomen. Initial dissemination of prevention HPVvaccines will only involve females as there is insufficientdata to provide an estimate of the publichealth impact of vaccinating both males and femalesand the cost-utility of vaccinating both malesand females. The information needed to fill in thisgap is an estimate of the per contact infectivity ofHPV among sexual partners and vaccine efficacyin males. 2007 artículo científico 0036-3634 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=10649017 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=106 Salud Pública de México application/pdf Instituto Nacional de Salud Pública Salud Pública de México (México) Vol.49
