Following the concerns of the Brazilian ?modernist? school, Bastide establishes his contact with the country ? with the arts, the literature and the folklore ?, reconsiders Mário de Andrade?s interpretations about Aleijadinho and the baroque, and especially, shares the formulations of this ?modernist? leader about the ?authenticity?of the Brazilian culture.
