This transformation met an increase of violence, which has gone from an homicide rate of 21 per 100,000 inhabitants in 1970 to a rate of 75 in the 90’s. this article discusses recent thesis that link urbanization and violence, and deepens in a detailed examination of political violence in urban contexts.
