- Finite Element Analysis of a Thick Metal Plate Indentation Ernesto Ponce L. Ingeniería The main objective of this work is to determine the pressure required to produce an indentation in a material using apunch of given shape following the finite element simulation. Some characteristics of thick metal plate punchindentation simulation processes were taken into consideration. Data obtained by the upper-bound solution methodwas used as the comparison criteria; relating computer obtained results with experimental ones. The basic principle ofthe work relies on the fact that the finite element method can easily be extrapolated to more complex problems in similarprocesses, as in the comparison with the upper-bound method which presents several complications related to thegeometry and friction characteristics of the different punches used for the metal indentation. 2001 artículo científico 0717-1072 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=11400907 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=114 Revista Facultad de Ingeniería application/pdf Universidad de Tarapacá Revista Facultad de Ingeniería (Chile) Num.9
