contents Availability evaluation of networks: an approach for n-tier client server architecture Flávia S. Coelho Jacques P. Sauvé Cláudia B. Abbas Ingeniería tier client dependability server architecture network availability Evaluation of availability Published work on computer network reliability frequently uses availability as a performance measure. However, although several ways of defining availability have been proposed, none capture the overall level of service obtained byclient hosts in a modern n-tier client/server architecture. We propose such a measure by calculating the fraction ofclient hosts receiving complete services from the network. We also extend a published, efficient heuristic method forcalculating availability to take into account our new proposed measure. The end result is a procedure of polynomialcomplexity O(nt4), where nt is the total number of components (hosts, links and interconnection equipment) in thenetwork. Numerical results of applying the method to several networks are given. 2003 artículo científico 0717-1072 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=11411203 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=114 Revista Facultad de Ingeniería application/pdf Universidad de Tarapacá Revista Facultad de Ingeniería (Chile) Num.1 Vol.11
