contents Factores socio económicos y aseguramiento en salud en el área urbana de Colombia Emmanuel Nieto L. Juan Luis Londoño F. Salud 1993 Law 100 coverage health economy Social security A descriptive study was conducted to asses the association between the labor socioeconomic profile and the affiliation to the health branch of the Colombian General Social Security System, based on the National Household Survey made by the National Administrative Statistics Department (DANE) in 1996. The labor sample size was 72.857 individuals. The results of the study show the prevalence of rationality in the current bismarckian system. As a fact, the affiliation increases with age, educational level and socioeconomic status. High coverage among payroll and full contract employees and among those working in modern economic sectors is shown. Despite the compensatoryrationality of the subsidized regime, strong unequalities related to the socioeconomic status of the population can be seen. Based on an analysis of logistic regression, relative advantages and affiliation probabilities were calculated, according to different working and economic conditions. Results also reveal evasive practices among potentials associates and show, in addition, not only problems related to the design of the system but structural flaws that could be associated to an unequitable and poverty fostering development model. 2001 artículo científico 0120-386X https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=12019103 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=120 Revista Facultad Nacional de Salud Pública application/pdf Universidad de Antioquia Revista Facultad Nacional de Salud Pública (Colombia) Num.1 Vol.19
