These incidents reordered thesocial representations that Venezuelans hadconstructed in the relations state/society andpolitics/civic society, and which had dominatedthe scene since 1958. Today the national politicalstruggle is also a struggle to establish a new hegemony:the imposition of a dominant socialrepresentation in the new relations betweenstate/society and politics/civic society which isto be structured. These pages refer to strugglesamong certain societal sectors that wish to imposea representation of civic society.
