  • Política, legitimidad y democracia en una sociedad en transición Ender Arenas Sociología Politics civic society political society social representations This paper attemps to decipher the transformationsundergone in social representationsin relation to the notion of politics, party politics, and civic society due to the impact of the crisisinitiated by the “Caracazo” incident in 1989 andby the attempted military coups in February andNovember of 1992. These incidents reordered thesocial representations that Venezuelans hadconstructed in the relations state/society andpolitics/civic society, and which had dominatedthe scene since 1958. Today the national politicalstruggle is also a struggle to establish a new hegemony:the imposition of a dominant socialrepresentation in the new relations betweenstate/society and politics/civic society which isto be structured. These pages refer to strugglesamong certain societal sectors that wish to imposea representation of civic society. We also refer tothe thoughts of the more significant actors of civicsociety, how they structure their agendas, andhow they relate to public state spatial notions. 2001 artículo científico 1315-0006 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=12210202 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=122 Espacio Abierto application/pdf Universidad del Zulia Espacio Abierto (República Bolivariana de Venezuela) Num.2 Vol.10
