We outline as objectives: i) to reviseunderlying sense structures; ii)to identify strategyfunctions in discourse and iii) to compare itwith political discourse; the hypothesis statesthat the discursive strategies used by this authorshare some essential features with political discourse(Molero, 1999). The applied method is discourseanalysis (Van Dijk, 1980, 1997, 1999), followingPottier´s linguistic semantics (1992,1993). The selected sample is the introduction toThe Sense of Life (Bhat, 1994).
