Izaskun Azueta Estudios Culturales A Fair Anthropology: a Contradiction in Terms?Izaskun AzuetaThis paper focuses on the anthropological case and it analyses the political and ethical implications of the researcher-subjects of enquiry relationship in anthropological research. It is believed in this paper that, once acknowledged the specificity of the discipline, the analysis of the anthropological case could serve as an interesting bottom sample of the ethical and political intricacies involved in a social research project based on an inter-subjective interaction between the researcher and the subjects of enquiry for the production of knowledge. At the same time, it also facilitates a reflection on an angle into the power relations that take place in the field of a development project when dealing with the interaction between the stakeholders. In this paper, the role of anthropology as a discipline and the role of anthropologists as researchers, their duty and their commitment towards the people that the knowledge is based on, are put into question. Departing from an account of a personal encounter with a subject of enquiry in the field, the paper frames the discussion with a number of questions posed to the researcher that stem from the very encounter itself. These questions mainly revolve around issues of power relations and unequal distribution of expectations and benefits. 2004 artículo científico 1666-2830 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=12400911 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=124 Theomai application/pdf Red Internacional de Estudios sobre Sociedad, Naturaleza y Desarrollo Theomai (Argentina) Num.9 |
