contents South pacific climate variability and its impact on low-lying islands Jacques Merle Multidisciplinarias (Ciencias Sociales) The climatic environment of the South Pacific region is characterized by the intense ocean atmosphere interaction which impacts the life and other environmental parameters of the region. Two main phenomenons are conditioning the climate variability of the region: El Niño and the Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and the global warming. These two components of the climate changes are affecting the sea level rise, the life in the ocean, the frequency and intensity of hurricanes, the occurrence of droughts and floods, the agricultural potentiality, the health of coastal regions including lagoons and reefs. 1998 artículo científico 0303-7495 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=12627311 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=126 Bulletin de l'Institut français d'études andines application/pdf Instituto Francés de Estudios Andinos Bulletin de l'Institut français d'études andines (Perú) Num.3 Vol.27
