contents Evidencias del cambio climático en Ecuador Luis Cáceres Raúl Mejía Gonzalo Ontaneda Multidisciplinarias (Ciencias Sociales) It is evident nowadays that modern and future climate is and will be the result of a climatic variability and of climate changes. The Intergovernmental Panel of Experts on Climate Change (IPCC) in its Second Evaluation Report (1995) points out that even though available scientific uncertainties in evaluating, there exist signals of a noticeable influence of human activity over the climate. The research done is the response basically to the need of evaluating if global change manifests itself in Ecuador and if the presented scenarios to study Climate Change are coherent. The study was done over 15 meteorological stations located in the coastal region and the highlands. Parameter used was: Precipitation, Mean Temperature, Maximum Temperature, and Minimum Temperature. In order to somehow qualify the “Change”, this was conceptualized as the difference between the initial and final values from the tendency line. Results obtained confirm increased tendency of the mean annual temperature with a greater increase in the highlands. Final criteria over precipitation tendencies are not attempted, even though evidences showed a “non-increasing” tendency. After filtering El Niño, the signal could be intensified in the coastal region mainly. Uncertainties found during the research do not prevent to recognize the existence of a “change” whatever causes they may be. 1998 artículo científico 0303-7495 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=12627319 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=126 Bulletin de l'Institut français d'études andines application/pdf Instituto Francés de Estudios Andinos Bulletin de l'Institut français d'études andines (Perú) Num.3 Vol.27
