contents L'éducation équatorienne et la Révolution Julienne (juillet 1925-août 1931): rupture ou continuité? Emmanuelle Sinardet Multidisciplinarias (Ciencias Sociales) Beginning in 1914 Ecuador started going through an economic crisis. As a result, the pattern of the liberal development through agricultural exports is questioned. This economic crisis was also political and ideological, the crisis of the oligarquic liberalism, which in 1925 led the Revolution of July. The governments that come out of the Revolution of July presented themselves as progressive, even socialist in the case of some members of the Junta, and them claimed to work out a social policy, especially in the field of education which is supposed to be the motor of the integration of the masses through democratized schooling. Education therefore seems to contrast away with the liberal reforms judged as too «elitist». But the study of the legal texts, ordinances and the constitution of 1929 shows that the educational reforms are a prolongation of the liberal platform, since the measures tend more to consolidate the system inherited from liberalism rather than develop schools on a national scale, especially rural ones. In this way the study of the educational reforms of the Revolution of July lays stress on the ambiguities of a regime whose field of action was limited by economic difficulties or ideological disagreements. Despite the official speeches and some efforts, this regime did not make the democratization of the school a priority. In fact, in the educative field, the Revolution of July represents continuity rather than discontinuity with the preceding period. 1999 artículo científico 0303-7495 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=12628105 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=126 Bulletin de l'Institut français d'études andines application/pdf Instituto Francés de Estudios Andinos Bulletin de l'Institut français d'études andines (Perú) Num.1 Vol.28
