  • The streets as examples of “true” democracy? The South-American experience Carlos de la Torre Historia Ecuador Bolivia Venezuela Popular Revolts Building on the existing literature this paper analyzes how – at the turn of the century and into the 21st century – activists in Ecuador, Venezuela and Bolivia constructed narratives that focused on “the people in action”.
