Una aproximación a la comprensión del asistencialismo social Jonny Alexander Cruz Bolaños Psicología Welfare modernity coloniality social intervention conceptual metaphors This paper portrays the results of a research that aimed to contribute to the development of an interpretation framework around social welfare, based on the analysis of metaphors that were found in the context of action of an NGO responsible for social intervention with children in conditions of vulnerability. Based on a qualitative methodology with a critical approach from social psychology, the main outcomes are a conceptual reflection of the relationship between social intervention and welfare, supported on a socio-historical context in which the influence of modern thought is evident (modernity) and the institutions that have historically embodied social intervention.
