  • ¿Qué factores extraclase o sesgos afectan la evaluación docente en la educación superior? José María García Garduño Educación bias students instructors teaching effectiveness student ratings of instruction In spite of the widespread use of student ratings of instruction in Iberoamerican higher institutions, littlehas published in Spanish language on the biases or background factors that affect teachingeffectiveness. There are some misconceptions and, to some extent, natural resistance by professors andadministrators as well on the use of student ratings of instruction to assess teaching effectiveness. Thepurpose of this paper was to carry out a comprehensive research review in order to ponder the actualeffects of those biases or background factors on the assessment of teaching effectiveness by students. The author concludes that in spite of student ratings of instruction are affected by some biases, they are avalid and reliable source for assessing teaching effectiveness. However, the article suggests that the useof student ratings of instruction for promotion should be made with caution. The author suggests somepractical recommendations to improve the use of student ratings of instruction. 2000 artículo científico 1405-6666 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=14001006 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=140 Revista Mexicana de Investigación Educativa application/pdf Consejo Mexicano de Investigación Educativa, A.C.
