Both these show the tension between tradition and change, and givemeaning to social action, cultural reproduction, political legitimization, all of which generate possibilitiesfor social transformation. The author underlines the matrixes of the social meaning of the world, inwhich are included Catholicism, Protestantism and Afro-Cuban cults. Specifically considered are thedegree of the churches´ autonomy, the logic of the symbolic market of faith, revitalization of identitiesand, in general, the fight to obtain room for action in the spheres of socialization, hierarchy of valuesand changes in the religious meaning of life.
