Dora Noemí Martínez de la Gorla Antropología For a long time Europeans and aborigines had used the Pampas-Patagonian resources with no importantconflicts arising between them. However, the appropriation of wild cattle by cattlemen implied the necessity ofpossessing land for rearing them. This situation resulted in an expansion of private property throughout thePampas Region, changing the relationship between Europeans and aborigines. In this context, these aboriginescould not use cattle resources any longer. While white people defended private property, an increasing aboriginepopulation was settling near the Spaniards in order to obtain cattle, making the conflict between them worse.However, in order to solve the situation, the Government signed Peace Treaties. The treaty signed with Llanquetruz,focus of this analysis, tried integrating him to the life of the country by promoting his settlement. The inclusionof aborigines into white peoples political and judicial status was the main principle on which this process wasbased.
