- El cientificismo y las modalidades de atención en los centros de salud del gran Buenos Aires (Argentina) Natalia Luxardo Antropología The author examines health care in public centers of Greater Buenos Aires, the aim ofwhich is attending elemental health problems. She distinguishes between two modes of health service:the totalizing methods and the focalised methods. The first takes into account the socio-cultural andeconomical context of the patient, while the second considers the biomedical point of view only. Theauthor goes on to analyse the contradiction existing between the modes of attention of the healthcentres and the objectives of primary health attention, and the difference between the patients needsand what the health centres have to offer. In order to explain these contradictions the author pointsout the organ-directed view of the biomedical service.
