Sheanalyzes an account about the ritual of «giving and receiving», annually performed on the sacred mountains,in honor to the Master of the Earth. The informant´ narration draws attention to the contactsituation with western societies, it involves the traditional mythical beings, the Christian god, the believersand non believers, the Mayas and non Mayas, and describes the daily life. The author explores howMayan notions appear in their cosmological ideas, religious beliefs, customs and even linguistic uses.She points out that some catholic beliefs have been interpreted according to native perspective.
