She starts describing the offers of health attention made by differentmedicines, the emerging conflicts between biomedical doctors and patients, and the strategies of therapeuticcomplementariness made by the peasant population. She points out that both the selection andcombination of medicines and the quality evaluation of the biomedical service are supported by culturalrepresentations of illness, diagnosis and therapy. As an example, to show this link, she studies the illnessconcept in NWA and Cuyo.
