This paper does not attempt anin-depth study of the depopulation of the Amerindians, but rather to serve asbeginning point for more extensive research. In the end, the reader willprobably be left with more questions than answers. It is the hope of the authorthat this exploratory format will spark new ideas as well as familiarize readerswith existing scholarship on the subject.
