Fernández Estudios Culturales interculturality cultural component didactic materials Spanish as a foreign language Nowadays, it is generally accepted that no foreign language teaching programme can do without a cultural component. Nevertheless, what we understand by culture and the way it is treated in class and in the teaching material can vary greatly. In this article we explore the cultural component in the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language in two quite dissimilar contexts, Argentina and Denmark. We focus on the most used coursebooks and compare them to the guidelines established by the local institutional contexts.
