As spatial area, working with a sample of institutions located in different state colonization zones. Museums are dynamic spaces for the formulation of cultural heritage of their communities and operating in the field of memory and taking these spaces as places of memory, where the community elects its symbols and their memories are materialized and begin to store representations of own social group that produced them. The study refers to three spaces: the Museum Visconde de São Leopoldo, located in São Leopoldo; the Municipal Museum Adolfo Evaldo Lindenmeyer in Sapiranga; and the Anthropological Museum Director Pestana, located in Ijuí.
