contents The effects of practice on cueing in detection and discrimination tasks Juan Lupiáñez Bruce Weaver Steven P. Tipper Eduardo Madrid Psicología IOR facilitation detection tasks practice effects spatial attention We report two experiments that examine the effects of practice on the earlyfacilitation and later inhibition of return (IOR) effects of cueing in detectionand color-discrimination tasks. In the first experiment a short and a longSOA were mixed within a block of trials, so that there was temporaluncertainty. In the second experiment SOA was manipulated betweensubjects, to eliminate temporal uncertainty. Facilitation and IOR effectswere obtained in the short and long SOAs respectively, in both detection anddiscrimination tasks, and they consistently decreased with practice. Thecueing effects were more positive (i.e., bigger facilitation and smaller IOR)in the discrimination task than in the detection task. Cueing and practiceeffects were modulated by temporal uncertainty (Experiment 1 vs.Experiment 2). Our results go some way to resolving some of thecontradictory findings in the literature. 2001 artículo científico 0211-2159 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=16922101 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=169 Psicológica application/pdf Universitat de València Psicológica (España) Num.1 Vol.22
