| contents | Valores de presión arterial en niños, niñas y adolescentes de educación básica y diversificada inscritos en el Ministerio de Educación en el municipio San Cristóbal para el período 2006-07 Jesús López Rivera José Ramón Zapata Castillo Rafael Dorante Stella Pereira Adayully Andrade Elizabeth Gandica Medicina children adolescents blood pressure An observational and transversal study was made with children (boys and girls) and adolescents of both genders, filed in the records of Educative Zone of Ministry of Education, living within the limits of the San Cristobal municipality, capital of the state Tachira in Venezuela, during the period 2006 - 07, due to the absence of up-to-date tables showing reliable date about arterial blood pressure values of specific population classes in the above mentioned area. A representative sample of this student cohort was taken with an interval of confidence of 95% and standard error of 3%, distributed at random in 3 institutions representing public, private, and mixed sectors. Arterial blood pressure and anthropometric measures were taken to every one of the selected subjects in order to build the tables of percentiles of arterial pressure in accordance with age, gender, and percentiles of size; a body mass index (BMI) and abdominal circumference (AC).
