The pur pose of this study was that of as -cer tai ning how the cold chain is kept in tact in pri mary caresystems in one healt hca re area of the Au to no mous Com munityof Ma drid, as well as de ter mi ning the de gree of in formationpos ses sed by tho se res pon si ble for vac ci nes as far as theirheat-sta bi lity is con cerned.Met hods. A cross-sec tional study has been made at 46 pri -mary care vac ci na tion points. The data was gat hered by meansof a per so nal in ter view by one sin gle re sear cher.Re sults. The par ti ci pa tion rate was 93.5% (43/46). In allca ses, the re was a ma xi mum and mi nimum ther mo me ter andmonthly tem pe ra tu re re cord. An un sui ta ble tem pe ra tu re wasfound in three ca ses (6.97%). The per cen ta ge of pro fessionalswho were awa re of the ef fect free zing has on vac ci nes va riedgreatly: 53.5%, 51.2%, 44.2% and 53.5% for diph the ria-te ta -nus-per tus sis (DTP), he pa ti tis B (HBV), oral po lio (OPV) andmeas les-mumps-ru be lla (MMR) res pec ti vely. And only 32%were fa mi liar with the sha ke test.Con clu sion.
