With themetaobjective of contributing to the further development thereof, this research set outs as specific objectives: knowing what is meantby «group-focused work» and ascertaining who is doing this workand how the group practices are carried out. Methods: From a qualitative-structural standpoint, four discussiongroups and four open interviews were held. The discussion groupsheld were: two with physicians, specialists in pediatrics, in familymedicine and in community medicine, one with nursing professionalsand another with professional social workers. The open interviews:two with general practitioners and two with social workers in the PrimaryCare Areas in the Autonomous Community of Madrid. Results: The groups are understood, by most of the professionals,as groupings of homogeneous individuals as regards age andthe disease involved to which information is conveyed by means ofinformal "talks" which are given mainly by nurses. A minority calledfor another way of construing and doing work with groups basedmore on a sharing of experiences and on fostering the group dynamics,an approach spearheaded particularly by women social workers. The physicians play a minority, sporadic role which is alwaysin conjunction with the other professions. Conclusions: Groups-focused work in education for health inprimary care involves mostly "talks" given by nurses and socialworkers, it therefore being found necessary to promote team activitiesin this group-focused work, by boosting the motivation and thetraining of the professional and bettering the evaluation of groupexperiences. 2003 artículo científico 1135-5727 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=17077510 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=170 Revista Española de Salud Pública application/pdf Ministerio de Sanidad Revista Española de Salud Pública (España) Num.5 Vol.77 |
